I’m Mike.
Like a lot of people I wanted to get into real estate for financial freedom and
to make more money than I was at my job.
I loved watching all the house-flipping shows and thought that was the way
to do it.
My first purchase was a single-family flip back in 2013. It was the most
stressful time of my life and eventually, when that house sold I made $60k in profit!
I took that $60k profit and wanted to buy rentals with it. My goal was to eventually replace my income with cash-flowing properties, which is where I am happily at now!
I spent the entire $60k profit on two condos to rent out. I thought since I made $60k and then spent that same $60k on more properties that come tax time they would wash each other out. Boy was I wrong!
I ended up being in $20k of debt with the government and that sucks
because they charge interest too!
It’s funny they never talk about paying taxes on those shows on TV or any of
the flipping gurus you see online!
